Chapter 8
Chapter 8 focuses on Using the Web for Teaching and Learning. Technology is tool that can simply make our lives easier. There are so many different things that teachers can use to help them stay organized. A teacher website is a perfect example. This website keeps student, as well as parents, up to date on the schedule and progress in their schooling. Homework assignments, FAQ's, and tidbits about the teacher are common things found on a teacher website. It is an easy way for parents to see into the classroom without actually being there. If a student is sick, they are able to look on the website to see what they have to make up. Having a link for podcasts is another great tool for student who may have missed class due to illness or a snow day. A teacher can upload the lesson on the website and the students would be able to download and listen to the lesson. With a teacher website comes many responsibilities as well. It is important to update the site regularly. Privacy, content, and navigability are also key elements to a website.

Having a classroom website is a great tool to use to help students and parents keep up to date on important things. At my high school that I graduated from the elementary schools used podcasts to help keep a little girl who had leukemia up to date on classroom assignments. Teachers should update their website on a daily basis.
