I read Chapter 6 which was titled Academic Software. This chapter covered several different types of Academic Software available. I like the authoring systems this chapter discussed because its a type of software that can be customized to help fit different students needs. This would be good to have because it allows students to learn better. This chapter also discusses the importance of visual aids. I like visual aids because I think they engage students in learning and make it more interesting and fun. Another type of software on computers available are educational games. Educational games present material that needs to be learned by a student in a fun way. It's good to make learning fun, because students are more likely to be engaged in it, and actually learn something. Lastly, there was a software for special needs students. This software was able to read letters and words out loud and enlarge the text on the screen. This makes it easier for those students with special needs to learn.

I think it is vital for teachers to use academic software in their classrooms. I do agree with you that we need to make learning fun and students will have fun while using different types of software in every subject. I was glad to see software for students with special needs because they need to be able to participate in class.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well; if the students don't enjoy what they are doing then they will not be willing to learn new information. Also everyone learns in different ways so we must have multiple ways of teaching.
ReplyDeleteI most definitely agree! I also very much enjoyed the educational programs that make learning fun. I also think that the technology that is used to aid special needs students is AMAZING! It's so awesome how far technology has come to help those who otherwise would have been unable to do work.
